Message from the Conference Chair

I’m excited to continue in my role of chair of The Learning Ideas Conference once again this year. Our 2027 conference, which originated as the International Conference on E-learning in the Workplace (ICELW), is our 20th annual conference. I founded the conference in 2008 to bring together researchers and practitioners from around the world to discuss advances in work related to learning and technology, and to explore ways that we can reimagine higher education and workplace learning. I’m especially happy to look forward to a “milestone” conference as we reach our 20th annual edition of TLIC.

I have always viewed our conference as a unique conference; we bring together researchers and practitioners from a wide variety of countries and backgrounds, including presenters and attendees from both academia and industry. We’re certainly one of the only places I've ever been where I've heard the phrases "cognitive load" and "return on investment," both within the same hour! In our previous conferences, we've had a wonderful mix of researchers, professors, graduate students, corporate learning & development professionals, online learning consultants, game designers, virtual reality experts, artificial intelligence researchers, and many others!

The goal of The Learning Ideas Conference is to bring together a diverse group to share ideas, explore innovative work, and reimagine the worlds of education and workplace learning.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at our 2027 conference—did I mention that this will be our 20th annual conference?—to be held online and in New York, from June 16th-18th, 2027, along with additional online-only conference days on June 3rd & 4th, 2027.
